OFFICE III is an experimental architectural collective based in New York and San Francisco and founded in 2016 by Sean Canty, Ryan Golenberg and Stephanie Lin. We are interested in rigorous deformations of geometry, vision, and material, and the reshaping of familiar organizations into the realm of the unfamiliar. The three of us met in 2008 as designers at IwamotoScott Architecture and later graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Our partnership was formed after years of conversations about our common values in practice, during which we recognized that our varied strengths in design, construction, and computation were both complementary and productive.
We are interested in experimenting with geometry and materials in alternative ways, with a focus on pushing their structural and perceptual expectations within an interdisciplinary context. We believe that the synthesis of architectural thinking and artistic disciplines is what produces cultural depth and value. Our participation in the visual arts, film, and music has necessarily influenced the way we think about experiencing architecture.
